“International Literacy Day Celebration”
Rotary International District 3830, lead by District Governor Ed Alvarez, celebrated the International Literacy Day on September 8, 2010 at the A-venue, Makati Avenue, Makati City. The momentous event was a joint venture of the ten (10) different Rotary Clubs of the district, organized by Rotary Club of Makati Cristo Rey, headed by Global President Jeremy Santos and facilitated by Past President Patty Santos.
The International Literacy Day celebration was a fun-filled and knowledge-driven event participated by reputable guest speakers and various companies which showcased their specialization in the field of learning and education. Congresswoman Kaka Bag-ao, Akbayan Party List, presented her topic “Literacy Curbs: The Growth of Population;” Ms. Elizabeth Angsioco, National Chair – Democratic Socialist Women of the Philippines, discussed “Literacy in Achieving Gender Equality;” and Dr. Corazon Raymundo, Executive Director – Institute of Maternal and Child Health,” talked about “Literacy Improves Child & Maternal Health & Wellness” among others.
e-Matrix Integrated Solutions Inc., one of the participating companies in the event, and a member of the Rotary Club of Makati Cristo Rey, headed by Ms. Rocky R. Santiago, Chairperson and Senior Vice President, displayed its information technology solutions portfolio such as Business Intelligence, Software Development, Network Infrastructure, and Business Consulting services in the booth. While, Jay Anthony M. Agosto, President and Chief Executive Officer, had presented the Business Value of Information Technology to distinguished audience from various companies, schools and universities.
The entire event turned out to be not just a mere celebration, but most importantly, a venue for new learning, innovation, and collaboration of advanced knowledge to improve the stature of education in the country from pre-school to professionals alike.
